Cocktail Shaker Boys appear at school fundraising – Market Harborough. Well in truth one of the Cocktail Shaker Boys appeared at the school fundraising event, ably supported by one of our foxicologists. The other shaker boy had to attend a boring conference! But there you go. Life can’t be flat out fun all the time, can it ?!

The Cocktail Shaker Boys had been invited to appear at the Ridgeway School’s Ladies shopping night. We guess their ulterior motive was to ply the ladies of Market Harborough with small samples of some of our stunning cocktails, so that they got in the party mood and spent more! Who knows, but it seemed to work…..

Well done to Kathy Green, Kate Jones and the other members of the organising committee. Their fund-raising activities helped generate £750 of new funds. This will go towards buying new climbing apparatus at the school.

We served up small samples of some of our cocktails which included the old classic the Cosmopolitan (vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice & lime cordial if you’re interested) and we ‘road tested’ a new one ; the Colonisation of the Dark World which is our take on the Black Russian http://hsba.biz/food/2011/07/03/is-it-possible-to-improve-on-a-black-russian-yes-it-sure-is/ is the link if you want the full story and ingredients.

It was great to see so many other small businesses there too. And a great idea to position us next to the locally famous Melody Cakes. Fantastic cakes, honestly, we keep testing them to check! www.melodycakes.webeden.co.uk for more details.

Busy time coming up, but then that’s the nature of our business. Helping people enjoy themselves! Oh well, someone has to do it.

Slightly new direction for us Cocktail Shaker Boys. We changed from being the boys who muddle, shake and mix your great cocktails into the boys who inform, inspire and teach about the interesting world of spirits, liqueurs and cocktails. Well at least that was the idea anyway!

We were delighted to be invited by the ladies of the newly formed Market Harborough W.I. to attend their first monthly meeting as guest speakers. We ran the presentation “Everything you wanted to know about the fascinating world of spirits, liqueurs and cocktails …….. but were afraid to ask.”

Cocktail Shaker Boys
Cocktail Shaker Boys – bringing cocktails to you

This included a sample of a couple of the cocktails we made live in front of the group at the end of our presentation. We also made up a couple of mocktails too, to cater for the people who choose not to go for the full cocktail experience on a Wednesday evening. Thank you to the 73 people who were there on the night. We hope that we see some of you again soon. For those of you who are interested in knowing more about the Market Harborough W.I. you can follow them on Twitter @mktharboroughwi or you’re welcome to e-mail us at info@cocktailshakerboys.co.uk and we’ll gladly pass on your details to the organiser Hazel Stacey.

And now that we’ve got the presentation written…………… well, we’re keen to use it for other groups. So if your company, group or association is looking for guests speakers, bear us in mind. Thank you!

We’ve now got a little liquid alchemy to do…… laters

Great party on Saturday in Kibworth. A 21st booked by mum and dad with everything, yes everything catered for. Outside catering from Emerson & West (boy did it smell good) and mucho vino sitting in chilled water. Oh yes and the Cocktail Shaker Boys working flat out to keep all the guests all topped up with cocktails.

Annabel did say after a few sips of her first cocktail that we are the best cocktail makers in the world. We’ll take that of course! Now admittedly it is Annabel featured in the picture here, and it is true to say that she was trying one of our special mocktails, but it still counts. Everyone’s opinion is valid.

Cocktail Shaker Boys setting up

Cocktail Shaker Boys set up for a 21st party - Kibworth

We had a great night, and we’re looking forward to a busy Christmas season. We’ve been working on cocktails recently (and last year admittedly) that are designed to taste like Christmas in a glass. Another bit of liquid alchemy. We’ll keep you posted with results.

We’ve got a new format we’re trying out in early December hopefully, we’ll post details once it’s all confirmed.

Hen party cocktails were served up for the hen and her guests on Saturday night in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Well what other types of drinks would you want to give that touch of class a week or so before your wedding?

Cocktails at hen party

Hen party cocktails - Kettering

In the picture were three of our classics : Kir Royale, Tequila Sunrise (all a bit mixed up) and the Mojito, and 3 happy party guests. Well this was early evening, and after 2 hours of cocktail drinking it was perhaps even happier, louder, and higher pitched if you know what we mean! And the night’s belter was the Merry Berry Cherry (surprising given that it is a mocktail, oh yes and they tried it with added vodka!) To be called the Vodka Merry Berry Cherry they urged, but we think we can come up with a better name – stand by!

More details on this party appear on our Facebook page, like us at Cocktail Shaker Boys…….

Christmas bookings starting to roll in now, and we’ll be introducing some specifically Christmassy cocktails for the period. See, we’ve been busy!

Winter warmer cocktails. Us boys are keen to try a new concept for December. We’re currently in talks with a private members club in Market Harborough to offer a range of winter warmers to their members for a period of an hour and a half or so after late night shopping in Market Harborough on Friday 2nd December 2011.

Whisky and cognac cocktails
Winter warmers – our cocktails keep the cold out!

We’re working on offering a range of malts, cognac and armagnac as well as the more fiery liqueurs such as Grand Marnier, Southern Comfort and Chartreuse. Then of course, to live up to our name, it’ll be Rusty Nails, the Sicilian Kiss and B&Bs all the way. Who said a warming winter drink had to be pronounced gluhwein? Certainly not us.

Imbibe, stay warm. Go Cocktail Shaker Boys, that’s our advice!

Cocktail Shaker Boys make the Leicester Mercury. It was Andy Warhol I think who wrote, everyone is famous for 5 minutes. Perhaps this was our moment in the limelight. Frankly we prefer mixing, muddling and shaking our cocktails, but we’re grateful for the Mercury approaching us to run a little feature on us. In case you missed it, the link is http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/fabulous-Shaker-boys/story-12928429-detail/story.html for the full lowdown.

Mojitos and Margaritas win the day in Kenilworth. Yes it was a South American 1-2 on Friday night at a 40th birthday party in Kenilworth. Ok, if you want to be really picky you could argue that Mexico and Cuba are in Central America – but this isn’t the place to argue over geography!

Anyway the point is that it was the Mojito from Cuba and the Mexican Margarita that were the 2 most popular cocktails at the cocktail party. Complete with gaming tables and a singer belting out some great covers of well known songs, the Cocktail Shaker Boys were kept busy for 2 hours serving cocktails to the ladies. Even the under 10s were catered for with some stunning, bright looking  mocktails. Some recipe details on Twitter here http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Cocktail-Shaker-Boys/235712456749 but you will need to login to Facebook to be able to see it.

So, if you want such deliciousness at your special event, let’s talk cocktails.

The Woodside  was an excellent venue, and they supported us well. We’d certainly recommend them. Have a look at them here www.sundialgroup.com/woodside/

We have another 40th party coming up soon in Northamptonshire. Looking forward to muddling, stirring, shaking and mixing.

And we’ve added some more spirits and liqueurs to our collection over the weekend. The mixology starts soon!

Hosting your own cocktail party Cocktail Shaker Boys at a 31st party. Well why not ?! Why not celebrate your birthday at any old time? Who says it should be a 21st, 30th, 40th birthday or 50th party celebration?

Certainly not us and certainly not Charlotte who hosted a great cocktail party at home in Leicester. The cocktails offered were ; Tequila Sunrise, minty aero Grasshopper, Green Apple Martini, Sex on the Beach and the champagne/ Cava based Kir Royale.

No one obvious winner – but the mocktail the China Blue evolved into an alcoholic version with the addition of vodka, so pretty much a Blue Lagoon and it got renamed by the guests a Charlotte Blue.

And that’s how a new cocktail is born!

But be warned – you could end up looking like this……

Christmas party cocktails being served up at many parties over Christmas and New Year. December is proving to be the busiest month yet for the Cocktail Shaker Boys. Not surprising I guess. If you’re not busy shaking, mixing and stirring over Christmas, then frankly when will you be?!

We have birthday parties in Leicester, a social club Christmas party, as well as the 2 over New Year : one serving cocktails to a group in Leicester and a new format we’re trying for Market Harborough over new year.

Our 2 main men Andrew and Steve are seen here entertaining the party goers at Harborough Squash Club’s Christmas party.

Shame we can’t get them used to the idea of showing the drink off when they have their picture taken – but then I guess you can’t have everything.
Most popular drink at this party was our own in-house creation the St. Louis. We’ll post the recipe soon – probably on Facebook, stand by !
