Cocktail Shaker Boys

Golden rum based cocktail & purple cocktail. 2 more recipes and these are home grown creations. They have been extensively tested though – of course. It is a dirty job but someone has to do it !

The first one is a great alternative to the Pina Colada. It contains similar flavours but the style of the Sandbar is very different to a Pina Colada. For a start you don’t need a blender – so it’s a lot easier. It is also a longer, fruitier drink and not quite so sweet or sickly – so if this sounds appealing, give it a go. This is all you do ;

Put some ice in your cocktail shaker. And if you haven’t got one of these, a good sized screw top jar will do the job. Add some ice.

For your stunning mixture of golden rum, coconut and pineapple, pour in the following ;

1 1/2 msrs golden rum

1 1/2 msrs Malibu

3 msrs pineapple juice

Shake all 3 ingredients in your shaker with a little ice – just enough to cool the drink.

Pour into a Martini glass and you’re there : good to go. Remember the old Malibu strap line “The sun always shine when it pours!” We’ll drink to that. The photograph shows 4 Sandbars ready to go at the summer social evening for Harborough’s HAHA networking group.

 Jacaranda afternoon

 The next featured drink is a subtle and botanical but powerful cocktail. It seems Gin is the ‘in’ spirit at the moment taking over from vodka perhaps? Botanicals are in, so this is our interpretation on the botanicals theme.

1 1/2 msrs vodka

1 1/2 msrs gin

1 msr Monin lavender syrup

Add all three ingredients to your cocktail shaker with ice, shake and serve into a Martini glass. Our art director decided on the bit of floral frippery to float on the top.
