Baileys

Baileys Irish Cream to give it it’s full name. This is a relatively new liqueur that was only developed in the 1980s. Until that point drinks manufacturers couldn’t find a way of adding cream to drinks without it going off.

Baileys - the ultimate smooth liqueur

Baileys - the ultimate smooth liqueur

Many of you will be buying some Baileys for Christmas and it does go well with that indulgent time of year. It’s main ingredients are whiskey, Irish whiskey of course, plus Irish dairy cream.

It also is a key ingredient of a B52 cocktail. The full recipe for this mellow cocktail will appear under the recipes tab. After all no self-respecting website about cocktails would leave out this fantastic drink. But it contains Cointreau, Baileys and the coffee flavoured Tia Maria.

If you haven’t tried this and you like Baileys, then give it a go – you won’t be disappointed. Also try the newer Baileys flavours : Baileys with mint and Baileys with creme caramel. The flavours are subtle, but it’s a good excuse to have 3 different bottles of Baileys on the go !

And our top tip for buying Baileys is to go with the major supermarkets. Asda at Corby, Tesco at Kettering, Sainsbury and Morrisons are normally fairly competitive. But if you want some Baileys for Christmas, hold off buying it until December as the prices tend to fall towards Christmas as they all start competing for your business. CHEERS !
