Green Apple Martini : one of the best new cocktails we’ve tried in the last few years. The bad news is that it is a little difficult to track down all the ingredients, but the good news it is well worth the trouble ! Honestly.

Green Apple Martini - you'll love it
This was brought to us by Nigella. It appears as a recipe in one of her cookery books. What you need is 3 ingredients – oh yes and a liking for apple flavours. Not sure it’ll count as one of your 5 a day, but then you’re not here reading this looking for tips on healthy eating are you ?!
The 3 ingredients for the Green Apple Martini are Gin, (preferred to vodka in this recipe as it has a more robust flavour), apple sourz (available in a vivid green bottle in Sainsburys and Tesco in Market Harborough) and green apple syrup. This is the difficult one. The brand you need is Monin, and although some of their syrups are sold in places like Waitrose in Kingsthorpe, Northampton, they don’t carry many flavours. Which means if you want some, either e-mail us fun@cocktailshakerboys.co.uk and we’ll let you know where to get some from and the current prices. Alternatively try www.thedrinkshop.com as they carry an impressive range of Monin syrups which are great for cocktail making. This image here shows the elusive blighter.

The elusive Green apple Monin syrup
And if we all start drinking large quantities of green apple martinis in Market Harborough, then perhaps green apple syrup will get easier to find. Your recipe is as follows ;
Cocktail shaker with a little ice, then
- 1 oz of Gin
- 1 oz Apple Sourz
- 1/2 oz green apple syrup
Give it a shake and pour into a Martini glass. We defy you to tell us that it doesn’t hit the spot ! Happy mixing.
