Finding rare ingredients

Finding rare ingredients : some tips to help you with cocktail making at home. We are often asked where to find some cocktail ingredients such as creme de cacao and creme de menthe.

These 2 classic cocktail ingredients deserve to be more widely available. Creme de Menthe is fairly easy to find in off- licences, but less common in supermarkets unless you visit a big one. Asda at Corby sells it at a reasonable price.

Creme de Cacao should be much easier to buy than it is : as it’s a key ingredient in both the Grasshopper and the Brandy Alexander, but you won’t find it in many supermarkets.

So our tip is simply key the name of the drink you want into Google and see what you get. Sites we’ve dealt with and can recommend are www.thedrinkshop.com and www.drinkon.com. They both carry a wide range of products and at reasonable prices. However adding on postage makes them a bit expensive compared with supermarket prices. Still beggars can’t be choosers !
