Ice in cocktail glasses – don’t get us started!
This really is one you shouldn’t try at home! Don’t put ice in the glass – that’s what a cocktail shaker is for! Honestly it really gets our goat when the barman gives you an oversize glass, and then half fills it with ice, before pouring your cocktail. All you end up with after a few minutes is a glass of watery something – a bit like a lolly. And they only do it so that you get a generous looking drink and they can charge you £8 for it! Pah!

Cocktails - classy delicious and tasty - so no ice then!
Instead the ice should stay in the shaker – so your drink is cold but it will keep it’s flavour until you’ve finished it. Simples!
Alternatively, if you want a cold glass you can always put a bit of ice in your glass first, before mixing your drink. Or even easier – if you have a Smug fridge (or something similar) why not simply put the glasses in the fridge 15 minutes before you want to use them.
The only other time we’re ok with ice in your drink is if you’re mixing up something a bit spirity, like a Scilian Kiss, or a Rusty Nail, or our new offering the Cote d’Azur : then a little crushed ice works fine.
But no ice in your cocktail otherwise – right ?!
