If there ever was a time for frozen cocktails – this weekend is probably it. With temperatures still in the high 20s, and touching the 30s it will be too hot for gardening, or washing the car or running. However it WON’T be too hot to sit under the parasol in your garden sipping cocktails.
You can’t say we’re not trying to help can you?!
You can take any cocktail that features cream as one of it’s ingredients and add ice-cream in it’s place. Here’s some menu suggestions to get you started.
Easter Egg
This one features chocolate ice-cream so there are people lining up for this one already. 2 scoops in your blender with 25 ml Advocaat & 25 ml Tia Maria. It tastes as good as it looks frankly – in a rich kind of a way.
Frozen Mandarine Sour
Again you need a blender for this, although if you leave the ice-cream to soften slightly in a shaker, you can get away with shaking it with the other ingredients. For this one you need 1 scoop vanilla ice-cream – the most versatile for frozen cocktails plus 50 ml Mandarine Napoleon (one of the world’s most underrated liqueurs for my money) based on Cognac and Mandarin liqueur, plus 25 ml lemon juice. This is a cracker.
Admittedly you don’t have to go all 80s and add parasols and neon straws. But you can if you want! Either way, take it easy, enjoy the English Summer and enjoy your imbibing. Cheers
