Christmas in the Apothecary. Creativity is a strange thing. Sometimes ideas flow, sometimes they don’t. When they do, you simply have to roll with it.
We wish you all a cracking Christmas. May all your cocktails be great. But we’re feeling creative and so we’ll spend a bit of time when things quieten down a bit working on some new ideas.
We’ll be spending some time developing new cocktails over Christmas. All the fun of a little liquid alchemy. And trying them too of course! Revisiting old, classic ingredients and experimenting with new ones. For instance we’re looking forward to working with our new bottle of Yuzu liqueur. A fresh, citrus style of ingredient – should be good.
New cocktail menus
The best ones will then be selected for some of the parties we run in 2024. So maybe you’ll get a chance to try some of them with us. Alongside the classics we like to offer some of our own in-house developed cocktails for you and your favourite people to try. Who knows? We might even introduce you to your new favourite cocktail. It’s happened before!
We know you like to sample your old favourites : Cosmopolitans, Mojitos and Espresso Martinis often appear by client request. But we like to keep it interesting with some of our own in-house creations on the list as well as some deconstructed classics. Have a look at some of our menu ideas here.
How we put a menu together
Once you give us the nod and let us know that you want to book us to provide cocktails at your party, we start work on your menu. To help us with this we ask what the female : male split is amongst your guests. Also knowing a bit about the age profile of guests helps. We’ll then put together a suggested cocktail menu for you based around our 5+2 model. A selection of 5 cocktails and 2 non-alcoholic mocktails. Alternatively we can sometimes offer a choice of 6 cocktails instead if you don’t require mocktails.
You can then let us know what you think and we’ll adjust the menu accordingly. If you have particular favourites that you want to include we can incorporate those of course.
Happy Christmas cocktails
Christmas is a great time to enjoy cocktails at home. Chances are you already have some ingredients and some items of bar kit : shakers etc. Cocktails are indulgent and a touch of luxury at a time when we all like to spoil ourselves and others. So buy in any ingredients you need to make your favourite cocktails and prepare a mini cocktail menu. All you then need is a shaker and some nice cocktail glasses. Hopefully you have those. And don’t forget the ice. Cocktails just aren’t the same if they’re served tepid.

We need to know the date of your party so we can check our bookings diary. We also ask where you are. Clearly a party in the north of Scotland would cost more than a party in Leicestershire or Northamptonshire. We also need to know how many people you hope to have at your party. Once we have those details we can put together a plan and a costing for you.
