Margaritas are one of the popular cocktails that many people instantly recognise and for groups of people celebrating their 40th or 50th birthday with something a bit different – i.e cocktails, the Margarita is a classic.
Along with the Tequila Sunrise, it is probably the best known tequila based cocktail. However made properly, it’s a potent cocktail. A Margarita is a relatively short drink. Ours is made in a Martini glass with a double shot of blanco tequila plus a shot of the classic Cointreau. The third element of the Margarita is lime juice. So it’s sharp. The final element to make the distinctive cocktail is to salt the rim of the glass. The idea then is that you sip your cocktail through the salt.
Now admittedly when this cocktail was originally invented in the heat of Mexico, having the salt with the other 3 flavours may have worked a treat, but overall we’re not convinced it’s a great idea. And we’ve noticed that many people (like us) aren’t so keen on the whole salty rim thing (no tittering at the back please). But it is how it’s SUPPOSED to be. So we get around it by adding salt to just half the rim of the glass. That way you have the choice. Neat solution huh?!
We also make a blue version too, adding blue curacao to the mix. This is a tip I learned a while ago from one of our team. That’s us, always innovating. And you know the best bit? We get to enjoy the innovation!
If you’re planning out a 40th or 50th or indeed any other landmark birthday, and you think cocktails would be just the thing to add that touch of class or glamour to proceedings, then by all means get in touch. Just drop us some details here.
