Rubicon make a great range of fruit juices that you can use in cocktails or mocktails at home. Their range has some great flavours and currently includes ;
– Lychee – Passionfruit – Guanabana – Coconut & pineapple – Mango – Guava – Pomegranate – Papaya – Watermelon. You can find out more about the range at Rubicon’s website http://www.rubiconexotic.com/#/drinks. The other good thing we find is that although they’re exotic and allow you to make up some sublime cocktails yourself, they are also widely available at a range of supermarkets ; including Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury and Lidl. Admittedly they don’t all carry the whole range. Not seen a lot of Guanabana about to be honest!
Probably what you want is some cocktail recipes, some you can try straightaway at home. We’ll start by giving you a couple of mocktail recipes – alcohol free – all the pleasure but without the pain the following morning. And if you insist, just add a double shot of vodka, and you’ve got yourself a cocktail without changing the dynamics of the drink. All very technical this mixology lark!
China Blue – you can find the full recipe and a image of the dramatic looking drink at the HSBA website http://hsba.biz/food/2011/08/13/4-new-cocktail-recipes-from-hwa-presentation/
All you need is Rubicon lychee juice, some lemonade (go for a good brand) and some Monin blue curacao (we can help you find some if you want : let us know firstname.lastname@example.org) Alternatively just add standard Bols blue curacao and you’ve got yourself a cocktail!
OMD – this string of letters will mean something to those of you of a certain age. But our OMD is one of our latest mocktail creations and the name refers to the ingredients – Orange, Mango (from Rubicon of course) and a dash of lime. It also contains coconut syrup, and a little soda.
How to mix your own OMD ;
– 3 msrs orange juice
– 3 msrs Rubicon mango juice
– 1/2 msr coconut syrup (or Malibu if you want it to be alcoholic)
– 1/4 lime cut in 2, one segment for dropping in, one for the top.
– 2 msrs of soda
If this isn’t one of the nicest summery flavours you’ll come across, then frankly we’d like to know what is. No really we would, we’re always on the look out for great new drinks to offer our clients, and to enjoy ourselves too of course!
