We love trying out different formats with clients at this time of year. Our winter warmers. Why not eh? If you’re looking for something a little bit different. A bit indulgent, and you generally like the dark spirits : cognac, scotch, bourbon, dark rich rums and short cocktails with a little ice, this could be just the thing.
Most of the year we serve our customers cocktails. Often the talk is of gin, vodka, fizz and light spirits. In Martini glasses shaken with ice. You get the picture.
Bring on the whisky
But there are a whole host of other, rich, products out there, that are simply fantastic, but which don’t play well with others. Peaty Islay malts for instance. They taste fantastic, but you won’t find them listed in many cocktail books.
If you have a winter event coming up, such as a Burns Night party, and you’d like the opportunity to serve a selection of quality malts and cognacs and such like, we can offer this to you.
We bring on the dark spirits. Typically our menu will consist of Cognac, a range of whiskies to include malts, a drop of Irish, and bourbon of course. Generally we support this with a great range of warming liqueurs too : Southern Comfort, Grand Marnier and the extraordinary Green Chartreuse.
As we are the Cocktail Shaker Boys we’re often expected to offer some cocktails too, so out go the light floral gins and pale rums and neutral vodkas.
Dark spirits and cocktails
Instead in comes such potions as
Rusty Nail – Scotch whisky & Drambuie
Sicilian Kiss – Southern Comfort & Amaretto
B&B – Benedictine and Brandy
In fact we run some of these events without our trusty shakers. Makes us feel a bit vulnerable admittedly, but this is all about gently stirred, warming concoctions. All about strength and quality and less about the drama and bright colours of the usual range of cocktails.
