Are you looking forward to sipping great cocktails again – once lockdown is over? We know that things aren’t going to return to ‘normal’ anytime soon. But in the meantime, we’ve been busy. Not out seeing all our lovely clients, but busy working in the apothecary. We’ve been developing some new cocktails. Ones that we test and then if they taste like winners – they’ll be appearing on some of our menus once we’re all allowed back out again.
How about Whitley Neill’s new gooseberry gin? One of our favourite flavours. We’ve had lots of rhubarb drinks on the market in recent times, so why not gooseberry? it’s fairly subtle and I’m not sure tonic brings out it’s best features. However in our new Gooseberry Martini where we pair it with St. Germain elderflower liqueur and Noilly Prat dry vermouth – it really sings. it also works well with Prosecco. We have a number of new cocktails where both of these ingredients feature.
Then there’s our favourite new product of this year so far. Fortunella kumquat liqueur. Fantastic. Developed by 2 London bartenders, so they certainly understand what we want to do with it. Mix it in world class cocktails. It’s got some complexity of flavour so works well with other ingredients. It’s a good thing we know where to source this stuff from isn’t it?!
